Fire Over Heaven

Fire Over Heaven is a monthly performance series devoted to unsung and underfunded forms of music and time-based arts, organized by Queens-based musician/organizer Che Chen.

FOH produces 9 monthly concerts a year. Intended as a meeting place that fosters creativity and cross-fertilization, each concert features performers drawn from the city’s rich experimental, avant-garde jazz & classical, rock, performance art, folk and world music communities. Outpost staff produce high quality recordings of each show, made available for free to the artists and broadcast on WFMU’s Ridgewood Radio stream. Since October 2020, we have also started archiving these recordings on Fire Over Heaven’s Bandcamp page, where they can be streamed for free or purchased for download. Since 2017, we have presented many of the city’s most adventurous artists at the series, including downtown legends like Peter Zummo and Loren Connors, new music stars Sarah Hennies and Nate Wooley, avant-jazz artists Jaimie Branch and Luke Stewart and Hindustani classical singer Dada Tapan Kanti Badya.
