Cuts And Burns Online Screening Series

Outpost’s video artist residency program has yielded a wealth of innovative, odd, forceful, and eye-dazzling works for the ever-evolving medium. Its archive contains long and short form narratives, animation, installation components, and unabashed experiments.

Our Cuts and Burns Screening Series has re imagined the residency program, and re shaped it into a screening series that aims to foster a sense of community and congregation, as well as uplift artists and works that seek out new and exciting ways of communicating through video and sound.

Our 2021 iteration of the program featured screenings curated by Jean Carla Rodea and Hanna Schaich, including work from Miriam Parker, Laura Sofía Pérez, Luna Marán, Janet Biggs, Valie Export, Shiri Faingold, Julia Fuhr Mann and Burner/Lo-Fi/Schaich.

In 2020 our screening series consisted of four collections of curated video work: “TOON PUNX”  curated by Sean Capone, “Body Poetics” curated by Muyassar Kurdi, “Artists in Residence: A Selection of Artists From Recent Residencies” curated by Outpost Artists Resources, and “I Did The Macarena But You’re Frowning Now” curated by Mikaela Lungulov-Klotz. These screenings featured Jeremy Couillard, Jack Wedge, Amir Jahanbin, Peter Burr, David OReilly, Leah Shore, MV carbon, Art Jones, Eryka Dellenbach, Heather Merckle, Janne Höltermann, Hanna Schaich, Umber Majeed, Yeon Jin Kim. Alanna Murray, Hirad Sab, Sara Dibiza and My Husband (Eliza doyle and Annika Berry).

The Cuts and Burns Online Screening Series is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts under Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s Regional Economic Development Council Initiative
