BUSHWICK OPEN STUDIOS SATURDAY
MAY 31ST 6-9 PM:
Featuring artists EJ Hauser, Melissa Brown, Erin Lee Jones, Yevgeniya Baras, JackieTileston, Anna Schachte and Fabienne Lasserre.
Brooklyn based visual artist EJ Huaser‘s paintings and drawings employ text and figures into seemingly discursive elements, “seeking a narrow window where numbers, letters, figures, and symbols cohere into a singular image”.http://ejhauser.org
Melissa Brown is a Brooklyn based visual artist who works in different mediums including painting, animation, and various techniques of print making. http://melissabrown.tv
Yevgeniya Baras is a contemporary painter and co founder of Regina Rex Gallery and Bull and Ram Gallery, both in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, N.Y. Baras’s small, intimate paintings are densely layered abstractions of saturated, nuanced color.
Jackie Tileston is an American artist and painter. She is an Associate Professor of Fine Arts in the School of Design at The University of Pennsylvania. Within her work she seeks to create paintings in which several different locations or spaces are made to coexist within one space”.
Born in Charleston, South Carolina Anna Schachte now lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. She combines and contrasts drawing and painting in her work to create her surreally familiar landscapes.
Fabienne Lasserre is a Brooklyn based artist who works with mixed media to explore hierarchies within different materials: ” I make works that are in between sculptures and paintings, as representations of an “excluded middle”, the part that is left out when things are divided into categories”
Curated by Yevgeniya Baras
